Luang Pu Liew's Phaya Tao Ruen (Wealth Turtle), gold-plated mixed metal, B.E. 2560, Wat Rai Taeng Thong, Nakhon Pathom. Thailand's original wealth turtle master. $68, 3 pieces. What is a Phaya Tao Ruen (Wealth Turtle)? The Phaya Tao Ruen — literally King of House Turtles — is one of Thailand's most iconic wealth-attracting sacred objects. The turtle symbolizes longevity, patience, protection, stability, and gradual accumulation. Among Chinese-speaking collectors, the turtle carries auspicious meaning echoing zhao cai (attracting wealth). Luang Pu Liew consecrated the very first batch of Phaya Tao amulets in B.E. 2516 (1973), and his versions remain the most sought-after. This B.E. 2560 edition features the classic turtle-shell frame with a central oval medallion. One side depicts a seated Buddha, the other shows the master's likeness — double-sided blessing.
