Wat Makut Kasatriyaram (วัดมกุฏกษัตริยารามราชวรวิหาร), located on Rattanakosin Island in Bangkok, was built by Rama IV (King Mongkut) in Buddhist Year 2411 (1868 A.D.). It is a famous royal-grade second-class temple in Thailand. "Makut" means "crown" and "Kasatriyaram" means "royal temple," combined as "the King's Crown Temple," fully reflecting its noble royal status. This temple has maintained close relations with Wat Bowonniwet and has jointly issued amulets multiple times, producing sacred objects of exceptional quality and enjoying high prestige in Thailand's amulet circles. In Buddhist Year 2511 (1968 A.D.), Wat Makut Kasatriyaram celebrated its centennial. After the abbot consulted with then Sangharaj Phra Sankharaum, the Thai royal family officially authorized the provision of premium sacred materials and respectfully invited Rama IX (King Bhumibol Adulyadej) to personally attend the grand blessing ceremony, personally presiding over the candle-lighting ritual to consecrate the Medicine Buddha. This ceremony was unprecedented in scale, consisting of three grand blessing ceremonies on auspicious dates, with participating monks all being core members of the Thai royal sangha. The strength of this monk lineup was extremely rare in Thai amulet history. The consecrating monk lineups for the three ceremonies are as follows: Somdet Phra Sangharaj Sankharaum (Supreme Patriarch), Luang Phor Hiang (one of five must-have monks of Thailand's East), Luang Phor Tiang (lineage of Luang Phor Boon, renowned monk of Ayutthaya), Luang Phor Neung (disciple of Luang Phor Kong and Luang Phor Jam, the living saint of Amphawa, revered teacher of Luang Phor Yit), Luang Phor Thong Yoo, Luang Phor Oh (intimate friend of Luang Phor Gui, participant in Luang Phor Gui's famous nine masters ceremony of 2518), Luang Phor Kong (venerable master of Suphan Buri Province), Luang Phor Gae (Wat Hu Chang), Luang Phor Ting (intimate friend of Luang Phor Gui, participant in Luang Phor Gui's famous nine masters ceremony of 2518), Pho Tan Kai (wealthy benefactor deity of Southern Thailand, golden-tongued monk), Luang Phor Sim (renowned arhat of Northern Thailand), Ajahn Fahn (arhat of the forest tradition), Luang Phor Maha Bua (the golden saint monk), Luang Phor Boonma. This Medicine Buddha amulet features a middle mold with an internal bell that rings clearly when shaken, symbolizing the continuous turning of dharma. The reverse side features a royal insignia seal, demonstrating its supreme dignity and royal origins. After more than half a century, such surviving unique pieces have become virtually extinct in the market, representing a top-tier treasure that serious collectors dream of acquiring.
