About Luang Phor Thuad
Luang Phor Thuad (หลวงปู่ทวด) is Thailand's most legendary southern saint, said to have lived during the Ayutthaya period. He was the first abbot of Wat Chang Hai, and after his passing his relics were enshrined in the temple's main chedi, making it one of southern Thailand's most important devotional symbols.
The Legend of Turning Seawater Fresh
A widely told miracle recounts how, when a ship was in peril at sea, Luang Phor Thuad stepped into the water and turned the seawater fresh to save those aboard. He thus symbolizes turning danger into safety and warding off misfortune, and is among Thailand's most revered protective saints.
A Symbol of Protection
Objects of the Luang Phor Thuad lineage, blessed at his home temple of Wat Chang Hai, are renowned for protection and turning misfortune into safety — treasured by devotees across Thailand and Southeast Asia, and a classic of protective amulets.
