Luang Phor Liew (Luang Phor Liew), born with the surname Chan, of Chinese descent, was born in B.E. 2448 (A.D. 1905) in Ratchaburi Province, Thailand. From childhood, he was enthusiastic about Buddhist teachings and spiritual practice. As a youth, he left home to seek out a Karen Ajarn (Karen Ajarn) to study sacred methods. At age 27, he formally ordained as a monk. Thereafter, he studied under many renowned masters, including Luang Phor Doem (Wat Nongbua Temple), Phra Tej Klai (Wat Thatonoi Temple), Luang Phor Deang (Wat Kaobandai Temple), and others. He received transmission of the sacred "Phaya Dao" (Wealthy Turtle King) method from Luang Phor Yoon (Wat Bampangyai Temple). The master later served as abbot of Wat Raitangthong (Kampangsaen District, Nakhon Pathom Province). He was a person of both spiritual power and noble virtue in Thailand, practicing vegetarianism throughout his life (unlike many monks who eat mixed diets), dedicating his entire life to helping others. His spirit is truly admirable. Legend says the master once entered a cave for solitary retreat, during which over three thousand turtles came in succession to present vegetables and fruits to the master and prostrate before him. The master taught them the Dharma. Thereafter, the master built a turtle release pond at the temple, welcoming devotees to release turtles, fish, and eels, demonstrating his compassionate heart for all beings. Thus, the turtle became the master's signature sacred object. Luang Phor Liew's first batch of turtle amulets was presided over in B.E. 2516 (A.D. 1973) at Wat Raitangthong. Subsequent batches were created throughout the years. Each amulet had to be personally consecrated and empowered through the master's meditation before being distributed to devotees. The sacred objects consecrated by this master have countless cases of bringing wealth, turning misfortune into blessing, and saving people from death. He became one of Thailand's most renowned turtle amulet masters both domestically and internationally. Luang Phor Liew peacefully passed away on September 4, B.E. 2543 (A.D. 2000), at the age of 95. His legacy endures, and his turtle amulets remain extremely rare and highly sought after in collector circles, with prices increasing daily.
