The Hanyi Festival, or Winter Clothes Day, falls on the first day of the tenth lunar month. As the weather turns cold, many families "send winter clothes" to their ancestors by burning joss paper, much as they do at Qingming and the Ghost Festival. Customs vary from place to place, so follow your own family's way.
Living abroad, it is often hard to find a place where burning is allowed, or the right joss paper. Our team in Thailand can make the offering on your behalf and record it for you.
How we make the offering for you

Names written
Your ancestor's name and your own are written on the outside of the package, exactly as you enter them.

Recitation
The package is brought into Wat Mangkon Kamalawat in Bangkok and the recitation is completed before the Buddha.

Burning
Burning is not permitted inside the temple, so the sealed package is taken to a designated site nearby and burned whole.

Recorded
Both the recitation and the burning are filmed. The names on the package are clearly visible in the footage.

What one offering includes
One sealed package of gold ingots, silver ingots and spirit money, burned whole without opening. For several ancestors, simply increase the quantity: each one is written, burned and filmed separately.

If I book the festival, when is it burned?
On the festival day, Bangkok time. Choose the festival date under "Offering date" at checkout. Booking from this page selects it for you.
How long does it take outside festivals?
Usually within 2 days of ordering. Holidays may cause delays.
What if a name uses rare characters?
Enter the name exactly as it should be written and note any rare characters in the message field. We write it as given.
Is anything shipped?
No. This is a service carried out on your behalf, so there is no shipping fee.
How do I see the footage?
We email you when it is done. Sign in and open My Orders to watch both the recitation and the burning.
