Kruba BoonChum Yannasangvaro was born on January 5, Buddhist Era 2507 (1964 CE) in Pa Maisak Village, Chiang Saen District, Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. When his mother was pregnant with him, she dreamed of a golden Buddha stupa surrounded by sacred light, and thus named him "BoonChum" (meaning "one whose merit is perfected"). Raised in poverty and enduring great hardship, at age 7 he traveled to Myanmar with family elders, beginning decades of cross-border spiritual practice. In Buddhist Era 2518 (age 11) he formally ordained as a novice monk. In Buddhist Era 2529 he received full ordination at Wat Suan-dok in Chiang Mai, receiving the dharma name "Nyanasamvaro" (meaning "one who guards the heart through wisdom"). Throughout his life, the master practiced extreme asceticism, spending annual rainy season retreats in isolated mountain caves devoted to meditation. Most notably, he completed three years, three months, and three days of continuous cave meditation—an extraordinarily rare ascetic achievement in modern Buddhism. The master remained vegetarian throughout his life, consuming only fruit and biscuits offered by devotees, dedicating all alms to the poor, earning universal veneration through his sublime conduct. The Bhutanese Royal Family's connection to the master arose from his decades of traveling throughout Myanmar's Shan State, Tibet, Nepal, and Bhutan spreading the dharma. Both the Fourth and current Fifth King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck have personally received the master, honoring him as National Teacher. In Buddhist Era 2546 (2003 CE), to pray for national prosperity and royal health, the Bhutanese Royal Family commissioned the master to oversee creation of this "Bhutanese Royal Edition" self-image amulet. These amulets were consecrated at the historic grand ceremony held at Wat Phra That Don Ruang in Mong Pawn, Shan State, Myanmar, with Kruba BoonChum presiding and high monks from Dharamshala, Bhutan's national temples, Nepal, and Tibet joining in collective empowerment—a ceremony termed "Maha Phuttha Phisek" (mega-international consecration), believed to radiate spiritual power across the entire Golden Triangle region. Only 1,000 pieces were cast, with 700 presented as the highest-level diplomatic gifts to the Bhutanese Royal Family, the remaining 300 brought back by the master. Over more than two decades through collector transactions and natural attrition, authentic pieces in circulation number fewer than one hundred. With Samakom authoritative certification, this is recognized as the "pinnacle" collectible in Southeast Asian and Bhutanese amulet collecting. In Buddhist Era 2561 (2018 CE), the master gained global recognition for accurately predicting the rescue of the Chiang Rai Wild Boars youth soccer team, confirming his spiritual efficacy to believers worldwide.
