What is the Luang Phor Pae B.E. 2512 Somdej, small mold (Phra Somdej Luang Phor Pae Phim Khanaen)?
The Phra Somdej (พระสมเด็จ) is one of the most classic Thai amulet forms: a rectangular powder plaque with the Buddha seated on a tiered base beneath an arch. Luang Phor Pae Khemangkaro (หลวงพ่อแพ เขมงฺกโร) was abbot of Wat Pikulthong (วัดพิกุลทอง) in Sing Buri and issued Somdej amulets throughout his life; in Thailand he is regarded as a leading master of the modern Somdej.
This piece dates from B.E. 2512. The certificate names the mold "พิมพ์คะแนน" (Phim Khanaen), the smaller size, with the "ยันต์ตรี" (Yant Tri) on the back. According to the supplier, the batch came in large and small molds and was made by Luang Phor Pae for the temple of one of his disciples, using several kinds of flower pollen with auspicious meaning in Buddhism; it was blessed first in the main hall of Wat Pikulthong and then in the disciple's temple, with the noted master Luang Pu To (หลวงปู่โต๊ะ) invited to attend.
