Phra Somdej Wat Rakhang, crackle-pattern batch (Run Taek Lai / รุ่นแตกลาย), made at Wat Rakhang Khositaram (วัดระฆังโฆสิตาราม), Bangkok, in B.E. 2556 (2013), in sacred powder (เนื้อผง). Wat Rakhang is where Somdej Toh (สมเด็จโต) created the first Phra Somdej more than 150 years ago, which is why Thais call the Somdej the "king of amulets". This batch is named for its surface: a fine web of crackle lines that gives the Buddha image an aged, antique look. The front shows the classic Buddha seated on a five-tier base beneath an arch; the back is plain. According to the supplier, the powder includes fragments of older Wat Rakhang amulets. Certified by the Thai Buddha Image Admiration Association, formal card No. P00434 with a QR code. Fitted in a clear waterproof case, ready to wear. One piece only; it is held by a partner supplier, so please submit a request and we confirm availability by email within 24 hours.
What is the Phra Somdej Wat Rakhang crackle-pattern batch (พระสมเด็จวัดระฆังฯ รุ่นแตกลาย)?
The Phra Somdej (พระสมเด็จ) is Thailand's most iconic amulet form: a rectangle with the Buddha seated on a tiered base beneath an arch. It was created by Somdej Toh (สมเด็จโต พรหมรังสี) at Wat Rakhang Khositaram (วัดระฆังโฆสิตาราม) in Bangkok during the reigns of Rama IV and Rama V. Wat Rakhang is therefore regarded as the home of the Somdej, and it still issues Somdej amulets today.
"แตกลาย" means crackle pattern. This batch was issued in B.E. 2556, and its powder surface is covered with a fine network of cracks. According to the supplier, the powder includes fragments of older Wat Rakhang amulets.

Wat Rakhang and the Phra Somdej
Wat Rakhang is a royal temple on the west bank of the Chao Phraya in Bangkok. Somdej Toh (1788 to 1872) served as its abbot, and the Somdej he made heads the Thai collectors' list of the five great amulets; originals are extremely rare. Since then Wat Rakhang has issued new Somdej batches over the years, so ordinary devotees can still receive a Somdej from the temple where the form began.
Blessings
- Safety: the Somdej's core blessing, for safe travel and daily life
- Career: steady progress at work
- Wealth: earned income and business
- Protection: warding off danger and keeping the mind steady
Please note: an amulet supports your own efforts and intentions; it does not guarantee any outcome. Keeping the Five Precepts is traditionally encouraged.

FAQ
Q: Was this made by Somdej Toh himself?
A: No. This is a Somdej issued by Wat Rakhang in B.E. 2556 (2013), registered on the association certificate as "พระสมเด็จวัดระฆังฯ รุ่นแตกลาย เนื้อผง พ.ศ. 2556". Somdej made by Somdej Toh himself are over 150 years old and sit in a completely different price range.
Q: Is the crackle damage?
A: No. The crackle is the defining feature of this batch; "แตกลาย" is the batch name itself, and the association certificate registers it that way. The cracks are on the surface only and do not affect the body of the amulet.
Q: What does the certificate say?
A: The piece comes with the Thai Buddha Image Admiration Association's formal blue-and-white certificate, No. P00434, naming it "พระสมเด็จวัดระฆังฯ รุ่นแตกลาย เนื้อผง พ.ศ. 2556", temple "วัดระฆังโฆสิตาราม", province "กรุงเทพมหานคร" (Bangkok), issued 8 September B.E. 2569 (2026), with a QR code you can scan to verify.
