About Wat Bang Nom Kho
Wat Bang Nom Kho (วัดบางนมโค) is located in Sena District, Ayutthaya Province, Thailand. A historic ancient temple, it is the home temple of the great master Luang Phor Parn Sonanto (หลวงพ่อปาน โสนันโท), famous in Thai amulet circles for the classic "Buddha riding animals" amulets.
Origin of the Riding-Animal Amulets
Luang Phor Parn (1875–1938) was among Thailand's most revered old-tradition masters. His "riding-animal" amulets, created in 1907 (B.E. 2450), are utterly distinctive — the Buddha seated atop sacred creatures such as the Garuda, Hanuman, fish, cockerel, bird, and porcupine, each mount carrying its own meaning spanning wealth, protection, charisma, and wisdom.
The Itthaje Powder Lineage
Luang Phor Parn is renowned for his "Itthaje" sacred-powder amulets; the objects he personally consecrated are considered classics of Ayutthaya old-tradition amulets, still highly sought after by Thai collectors and devotees today.
