Life of Luang Phor Poon
Luang Phor Poon (หลวงพ่อพูล) was born on 11 November 1912 (B.E. 2455) into a humble farming family in Nakhon Pathom Province, the sixth of ten children. He was ordained in 1937 (B.E. 2480) at Wat Phra Ngam, Nakhon Pathom, and from 1949 (B.E. 2492) served as abbot of Wat Phai Lom until his passing on 22 May 2005 (B.E. 2548) at the age of 93, after 68 years in the monkhood.
Master of Kuman Thong and Khun Paen
Luang Phor Poon was among modern Thailand's most respected masters of Kuman Thong, and was also skilled in the Hanuman (monkey deity) and Khun Paen traditions. The "Sombat" wealth-child Kuman Thong he personally consecrated are renowned for wealth, charisma, and protection — classics of the Nakhon Pathom lineage, treasured by devotees in Thailand and among overseas Chinese communities.
A Life of Compassion
Luang Phor Poon was known for his charitable spirit, using temple funds to build schools, hospitals, and other public works, earning deep respect from devotees. After his passing, his lineage was inherited by his disciple Luang Phor Namfon, the current abbot of Wat Phai Lom, who continues Luang Phor Poon's casting and consecration traditions.
