A Luang Pho Khun Phra Kring (พระกริ่ง, Medicine Buddha) from the "Sao 5 Khun Phan Lan" (เสาร์ 5 คูณพันล้าน) batch, solid silver (เนื้อเงิน), made at Wat Ban Rai (วัดบ้านไร่), Nakhon Ratchasima, in B.E. 2537 (1994). The Buddha sits on a double lotus base holding a medicine bowl in one hand, the other hand touching the earth, and the back of the base is inscribed "เสาร์ ๕ คูณพันล้าน". The supplier calls it the "million" Medicine Buddha and says it left the temple together with a matching Phra Pidta of the same series. Luang Pho Khun is one of Thailand's best-known monks, and "Sao 5" means the blessing was held on a Saturday falling on the fifth waxing day of the fifth lunar month, one of the most prized days for consecration in Thailand. Certified by the Thai Buddha Image Admiration Association, formal card No. K04325, in its association case. One piece only; it is held by a partner supplier, so please submit a request and we confirm availability by email within 24 hours.
What is the Luang Pho Khun B.E. 2537 "Sao 5 Khun Phan Lan" Phra Kring (พระกริ่งหลวงพ่อคูณ รุ่นเสาร์ 5 คูณพันล้าน)?
A Phra Kring (พระกริ่ง) is a small Buddha cast in the round, usually seated with a medicine bowl in one hand and the other touching the earth, after the image of the Medicine Buddha (Bhaisajyaguru). Thais keep it as a prayer for wellbeing and protection from misfortune. Luang Pho Khun Parisuttho (หลวงพ่อคูณ ปริสุทฺโธ) of Wat Ban Rai (วัดบ้านไร่), Nakhon Ratchasima, is one of the most famous monks in Thailand, and his amulets are known in nearly every Thai household.
"Sao 5" (เสาร์ 5) means the blessing ceremony was held on a Saturday falling on the fifth waxing day of the fifth lunar month, regarded in Thailand as an exceptionally auspicious day for consecration. "Khun Phan Lan" (คูณพันล้าน) is the batch name, meaning blessings multiplied many times over; the supplier calls it the "million" series. This piece is the solid silver (เนื้อเงิน) version.

Who was Luang Pho Khun?
Luang Pho Khun was born in B.E. 2466 (1923) and passed away in B.E. 2558 (2015), spending his monastic life at Wat Ban Rai in Dan Khun Thot district, Nakhon Ratchasima. He was known for his plain, direct manner and his generosity, giving much of the donations he received to schools, hospitals and local projects, and he was deeply loved across Thailand. The amulets he blessed are numerous and widely worn, and he remains one of the defining monks of modern Thai Buddhism.
Blessings
- Wellbeing: the Medicine Buddha's own meaning, a prayer for health of body and mind
- Safety: protection and keeping away from danger
- Changing luck: support when things are not going well
- Career and wealth: for work and business; "khun" means to multiply
- Inner practice: easing past karma and growing mindfulness
Please note: an amulet supports your own efforts and intentions; it does not guarantee any outcome and is no substitute for medical care. Keeping the Five Precepts is traditionally encouraged.
Craftsmanship
The Buddha sits cross-legged with clearly cast curls and ushnisha, a calm face, robe over the shoulder and a beaded garland across the chest; the left hand holds a medicine bowl in the lap and the right rests over the knee in the earth-touching gesture. He sits on a full double lotus base with plump petals. The back of the base is inscribed "เสาร์ ๕ คูณพันล้าน", and the flat underside has a round stamp with a number beside it. The figure is silver-white with soft golden tones from natural oxidation. The association case holds the temple's original card insert printed with Luang Pho Khun's name, the batch name, Wat Ban Rai and B.E. 2537.
