What is the Luang Pho Sothorn B.E. 2525 arm-shaped coin (Rian Rup Arm Luang Pho Sothorn 2525)?
Luang Pho Sothorn (หลวงพ่อโสธร) is not a monk but an ancient Buddha image, the principal image of Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan (วัดโสธรวรารามวรวิหาร) in Chachoengsao (ฉะเชิงเทรา). Thais travel there to make wishes and pray for safety and good business, and the temple has issued amulets and coins bearing the image over many years.
A "rian" (เหรียญ) is a struck metal coin, and "rup arm" (รูปอาร์ม) is collectors' shorthand for the shield-crest outline. This piece is the copper (เนื้อทองแดง) version issued in B.E. 2525.

The story of Luang Pho Sothorn
Luang Pho Sothorn is a seated Buddha in the meditation gesture and the principal image of Wat Sothon. Thai legend says several Buddha images once floated down the rivers, and one of them stopped by the Bang Pakong River (แม่น้ำบางปะกง) in Chachoengsao, where villagers drew it ashore with sacred thread and enshrined it. According to the supplier, another version holds that during the Ayutthaya wars people coated the image in mud and set it adrift to protect it. These are folk accounts that cannot be verified, but the image's place in Thai devotion is beyond doubt; the supplier lists it among Thailand's five great Buddha images.

Please note: an amulet supports your own efforts and intentions; it does not guarantee any outcome. Keeping the Five Precepts is traditionally encouraged.
Craftsmanship
A shield-crest copper coin with twin scrolls at the top and curved sides tapering to a point. The front shows Luang Pho Sothorn seated on a stepped base with a lattice panel at the front. The back carries three upright yantra staffs above a triple "อุ" yantra, with "หลวงพ่อโสธร" along the lower edge. Four decades of natural oxidation have given the copper a deep brown tone. It is set in a gold-tone case with a ring of clear stones on the front, a closed gold-tone back and a hanging loop.
