What is the Luang Phor Khun B.E. 2519 Sang Barami medal?
Luang Phor Khun Parisuttho (หลวงพ่อคูณ ปริสุทฺโธ) of Wat Ban Rai (วัดบ้านไร่), Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), was one of Thailand's best-loved monks. "Sang Barami" (สร้างบารมี) means building merit and standing. Issued in B.E. 2519, this is one of the best-known of his early portrait medals and has long been a core piece for collectors.
According to the supplier, the batch was made in four materials: gold, silver, nawa (nine-metal alloy) and copper, in runs of 19, 199, 999 and 2,519 pieces respectively. The supplier also describes it as the most valuable of Luang Phor Khun's portrait batches and one of the "five great" modern portrait medals. These figures and rankings are the supplier's and we have not verified them independently. This piece is copper.

Craftsmanship
An oval copper medal with its original loop and copper ring. On the front Luang Phor Khun sits cross-legged on a base, with crisp robe folds, the cloth bag at his waist and a clear facial profile; below the base is a sacred syllable and then "หลวงพ่อคูณ ปริสุทฺโธ". The back has a stupa-shaped yantra and syllables at the top, a round nine-square grid yantra (ยันต์ตาราง) at the centre ringed with incantations, the temple and district along the upper edge, and "รุ่นสร้างบารมี ๒๕๑๙" along the lower edge. The surface is original and uncleaned, with a blue-violet oxidised patina; the edges show bare copper and striking marks. It is currently uncased, in the association's sealed box.
FAQ
Q: What is the yellow card in the photos, and which card do I receive?
A: The yellow card is the Thai Buddha Image Admiration Association's authentication receipt, issued on the spot once a piece is judged genuine; the formal certificate is collected on the Thursday of the following week. This piece's yellow card is No. 06986, amulet name "ลพ.คูณ" (Luang Phor Khun), marked "แท้" (genuine), with the "มีซ่อม" (repaired) box left blank, dated 22 September B.E. 2569 (2026). The buyer receives the association's formal certificate.
Q: How do I know it is the B.E. 2519 Sang Barami batch?
A: The lower edge of the back is cast "รุ่นสร้างบารมี ๒๕๑๙" (Sang Barami batch, B.E. 2519), the upper edge reads "วัดบ้านไร่ อ.ด่านขุนทด จ.นครราชสีมา", the front reads "หลวงพ่อคูณ ปริสุทฺโธ", and the association receipt names Luang Phor Khun.
Q: What does "original patina" mean? Can I clean it?
A: It means the copper has kept the natural oxidation it developed over the years and has never been scrubbed or polished. Collectors value this highly, so please do not use cleaners or polishing cloths.
Q: Can I wear a copper medal every day?
A: Yes, ideally in a waterproof case to protect the patina.
Q: Who is it suited to?
A: Business owners, anyone working on their career and standing, frequent travellers, and collectors of Luang Phor Khun's early portrait medals.
Q: Why do I request first and pay later?
A: This piece is held by a partner supplier rather than in our Bangkok stock. So that nobody pays for a piece that has already gone, we confirm with the supplier first and reply by email within 24 hours. If it is available, the email includes a payment link valid for 24 hours. Submitting a request costs nothing.
